National Art Education Association President
Kim Defibaugh, Ed.D.
Currently the President of the National Art Education Association, Kim has also served as President of the Art Educators of New Jersey, Art Administrators of New Jersey, and Co-President of the University Council for Art Education. She has served on the Steering Council of the New Jersey Arts Education Partnership, the NAEA Professional Materials Committee and on the Board of Trustees for the National Art Education Foundation. After 23 years as an Art Teacher, Kim assumed administrative roles for 13 years, first as building administrator and then District Supervisor of Fine Arts for the Toms River Regional School District. She has been honored with numerous awards from NAEA (4), AENJ (3), the Council for Art Education (3), New Jersey Governor’s Awards in Arts Education (8) and was the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association 2012 Visionary Supervisor/Director of the Year. Kim enjoys book illustration and had several images included in publications in 2016 and 2017. A fiber artist, Kim exhibits her work at galleries in Virginia and New Jersey. In 2017 she received a 2nd place award from the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution for her hand quilted wall hanging commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War and an honorable mention from AENJ for another wall hanging “Colonial Williamsburg Garden.”
